FAQ

HAIR CARE

Hair grow up on the scalp and we can divide their structure into three parts: cuticle, cortex and marrow.

The cuticle is the external part and it is the first to be damaged when we do not care of hair (because of inadequate shampoos, permanent, brushing, etc).

The cortex is the intermediate part: it is the 80 % of the hair and it is composed of cells such as twisted ropes; in the cortex we find a coloured pigment, the melanin, which defines the hair natural colour. Melanin decreases with age until hair become “white”.

The marrow, finally, is the most inner part and its diameter depends on the hair type.

Shampoo is the first step to wash hair. First of all we dump hair and we apply on them a little amount of product evenly along the entire length, delicately massaging the scalp and avoiding to tangle the head of hair. Then we leave to work for about two minutes and then we can rinse well.

We apply evenly the conditioner on the damp length only, never on the scalp, after the shampoo rinsing, helping ourselves with a comb. Leave to work from five to ten minutes (it depends on the type of conditioner or of the hair need) and then rinse well.

We apply evenly the mask on the length and we massage it with fingertips on the scalp too, after the shampoo rinsing, helping ourselves with a comb. It needs a long time of work, from 15 minutes to half an hour, to enable the effective penetration of all the active ingredients into the hair fiber. As the conditioner, we remove it rinsing well.

The conditioner is an after shampoo cream and it is ideal for a frequent use, while the mask (always in a cream texture, but, more dense) is ideal, generally, for a one time week use.

The conditioner is important after the shampoo because restores balance sebum and hydration on hair, working on its surface, performing a main detangling function that makes shiny, soft and fluffy hair. Moreover, it helps to increase cuticle adherence to hair shaft, fighting split ends and reducing hair electricity.

The hair mask, instead, has a more nourishing and healthy action than the conditioner but, because of this its specific quality, can make hair heavier and its application is ideal one time a week, in place of the conditioner. It is a specific treatment that works deeply into hair, until cortex, thanks to vitamins and nourishing active ingredients that moisturize, revitalize and restructure the entire head of hair, from the stimulation of the scalp to the beauty and healthy ends.

The best way to dry hair is always natural, because artificial heat tends to corrode the head of hair. Often we do not have time, so we have to use the hair dryer. To minimize damages, after shampooing, we can remove the excess water dabbing the hair with a towel, without rubbing. Then we can dry starting from the roots to the lengths to the tips, by adjusting the maximum air flow and then decreasing it progressively.

The hair dye is a technique of hair coloration or discoloration and it can be permanent or semipermanent. Highlights have the aim to lighten, without decoloration, and for this reason they can only be achieved on a natural base. Streaks lighten the hair through the technique of discoloration and for this reason they can be achieved on natural base or already treated hair. The instant highlighters are temporary colours, with high molecular weight, which are layed down deposited on the hair, like a film, and removed in some washings. The dyes last almost a month; highlights lighten about three months, the discolorations do not bleach but change tone; finally, the instant highlighters are washed away in three or four shampoo.

To wash curly hair we need to use some tips, to have a fluffy and light curl. Dilute a small amount of product with water and massage the skin with your fingertips, starting from the sides of the head to the nape and leave to wark for a few minutes: in this way the follicles will absorb the nutrients of the detergent. Rinse thoroughly and repeat if necessary; in any case, remember to use a jet of lukewarm or cool water in the last rinse, so the keratin scales can be closed increasing the hair brightness.

Curly and wavy hair are very delicate so, to keep their shape, it is necessary avoiding to rub them with a pool towel (it electrify the hair). Instead you can use a towel in cotton fiber (good ones in bamboo); the best solution for you it would be to dry your hair to the air, but if you do not have time, with hair upside down, use the hair dryer at a distance of about 15 cm and move it in a circular way to distribute the heat: in those moments remember you do not touch the hair tips because the heat rubs them.

We find split ends at the end of lenghts, when hair divide themselves into several parts, losing elasticity and strength, up to break. They are caused by stressful chemical treatments and by heat instruments such as hair dyes, hair dryer and hair straightener. To fight split ends we can use restructuring shampoos and masks and, especially, we can go to our hair stylist to cut 2-3 centimetres of hair every 2 months.

Electrical hair” can be caused by several reasons, for example: weather factors such as wind, and the use of clothes in wool or specific synthetic fabrics.

We can avoid electrical hair being careful to weather conditions and to the fabric of our clothes: moreover, we have not to use boiling water to the shampoo rinsing, but we have to use combs in wood material and brushes with natural bristles and, finally, an hair dryer with moisturizing ions.

SUN CARE

According to the EC Regulation, the UV filters are “substances which are exclusively or mainly intended to protect the skin against UV radiation by absorbing, reflecting or scattering UV radiation”. We find them in cosmetic products intended for both the defense of the skin and hair.

SPF is the acronym of “Sun Protection Factor” and it informs about the protection level of a sun product against damages caused by UV rays; the SPF is expressed as a number: SPF 6-10 (low protection), SPF 15-25 (medium protection), SPF 30-50 (high protection), SPF 50+ (very high protection).

INCI

Parabens are cosmetic preservatives. According some researches, they can cause, with other factors, develop of intolerances and allergies.

Paraffin is a mixture of solid hydrocarbons derived from petroleum: in cosmetics it is used especially for emollient formulations. Despite its effectiveness smoothing action, it can create a film that does not allow adequate skin perspiration.

SLS and SLES, finally, are chemical cleaning agents, with foaming action, which can be irritating.

INCI is the acronym of International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients and it is “the interantional list” to identify ingredients in cosmetics. This nomenclature is valid in EU countries, United States, Russia, Brasil, Canada and South Africa.

INCI ingredients enumeration is not random: it plans the order of each ingredient from the one present in greater amounts in the formula, with a descending sequence.

In the list, ingredients are in english language or in latin (in these cases are botanic names), while for colorants there is the Colour Index numeration.

INCI on cosmetic labels is mandatory from the 1st January 1997: in this way the consumer can know clearly cosmetics formulas.

ECO-COSMETIC

No, BluOrange products ARE NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS, according the law.

Anyway, from 1980 animal testing is not a very common practice in cosmetic area: from 2004 law prohibits tests on completed products, and from 2009 tests are forbidden on new cosmetic ingredients too. Finally, from march 2013 in EU countries it is forbidden “sell cosmetic products with animal tested ingredients outside European Community” (source: www.abc-cosmetici.it).

BluOrange vision is the maximun result for the consumer and, at the same time, the respect for him e for the environment.
